Stories large
Stories small
Stories so far from
My own experiences
Stories so handily known
Give me a massive theatre
With a wide white screen
The chaos outside can calm
While I live vicariously
For thirty odd years
The cinema has been a second home
Now more than ever
I could use a good show
Nothing like the feeling
Of a full theatre
Bearing witness
To a future classic
A certain buzz
Rolls across the seats
As the credits roll
Many get up to leave
But some sit in awe
Wanting to stay
In that sense of wonder
Happy to fall under
Such a perfect spell
I’ve seen adventures
In the far reaches of space
As a nobody from nowhere
Discovers their life
Can be so much more than it seemed
I’ve seen intimate tales
Of redemption
As a carved out soul
Realizes they have what it takes
To look forward
And become whole
I’ve seen so many stories
So beautifully told
Grand gestures
Subtle glances
A pop song
Or a sweeping score
Elevating the moment
Into one of wistful reflection
transcendent peace
Or a sense of hope
Hard-won but bittersweet
